Tunnel or retractable thruster — which is better?

It depends on hull geometry, immersion depth, free space and use. A tunnel is simpler when correctly positioned; a retractable system is valuable when the bow or hull cannot provide enough tunnel immersion.

Can an existing Max Power system be diagnosed?

Yes. A useful start is the model and serial number, voltage, installation photos, behaviour under load and an exact description of when the fault occurs.

Can an old thruster be replaced without major work?

Sometimes, but only after checking tunnel, diameter, leg position, power, control cables and available adaptors. A retrofit plan should precede ordering.
